Summary: This position is responsible for the coordination, management, and safe operation of crews involved in the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of railroad track for REMCAN Projects LLC.

• Direct and manage daily activities of a crew related to duties involved in the
construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of railroad tracks
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures
• Maintain accurate records of daily tasks, crew time, job cost, and production
reports
• Cleans and prepares construction site
• Digging ditches, trenches, backfills excavations and compacts and levels earth to
grade specifications, using necessary tools
• Work with Operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of
machinery, equipment, and materials
• Loads, unloads materials, machinery, and tools as necessary
• Driving spikes
• Moving and setting cross ties and lengths of steel rail
• Shoveling stone
• Adjusting switches
• Lubricating switches
• Tightening track bolts.
• Carrying track jack (approx. 50 lbs.)
• Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Other duties as assigned
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and
memos
• Write simple correspondence
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to
customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Perform basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Comply with all rules and regulations and instructions
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written
or oral instructions
• Troubleshoot issues and deal with typical problems that occur in track
maintenance in the field

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma/GED required

• Military Experience would be helpful

• Experience preferred but not necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move
heavy weights. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with
hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage. Exposure to all weather conditions
